The town maintains a well preserved historical centre.

Unfortunately few remains of the fortress built (and later destroyed) by the French are still visible.

This is the building where the famous figure known as “La Maschera di Ferro” (the Iron Mask) was detained.

One of the most interesting road is Via Principi d’Acaja that links the lower part of the old town to the hill where are the San Maurizio church and the adjacent Madonna delle Grazie shrine.

A balcony close to the church offers a wonderful view of the town.
